As Armond Spikell tells it, the new O Street Market Development bounded by 7th, 9th, O & P Streets will put the largest supermarket in the the District in the heart of Shaw. Fall 2008 is the target for groundbreaking and the project should be completed in 2011.

With green roofs, 100 units set aside for affordable senior housing, mid- to high- rate condos, rental apartments, a hotel, and ample parking for the residents and businesses, the project should be a tremendous asset to the community.

Financial hurdles (possibly overcome by TIFs) stand ahead. Permits and community input are still required before this dream can come true.
